A study, published in August 2021 in the Journal of Oral Implantology, analyses NaCl decontamination of healing abutments.
Analysis shows that although decontamination with NaCl removes all traces of bacteria, deposits remain in the interstices.
A more in-depth study of the composition of these elements will be required before determining whether the reuse of NaCl-decontaminated healing abutments can be envisaged.
